Customer Challenge :

For the HTA (High Tension Alternating current) connection of the wind farm in the Coolus area of Marne, we laid two reinforced aluminium cables of 240mm², covering a distance of 14 kilometres.

The trenching and mechanical laying were performed in a trench 280 mm wide, with the cables stacked at a depth of 1.10 meters. The deployment required the use of a GD2-TRN 184 plus directional drilling to cross some roads. The ground in all the area was mainly composed of clay-limestone and chalk.

Furthermore, due to the presence of fiber and water networks, the trencher was obliged to move on tracks for over a distance of 500 meters in the middle of the project.

Solutions :

The machine used was the GD2 TRN184. This mechanical laying solution, based on overlaid cables and hydraulic backfiller, allowed for an adaptive backfilling of the trench depending on the availability of excavated materials.

The accessories used with the machine enabled a tailored laying solution as well as an optimization of the project in terms of time and restoration of the paths.

Results :

• 14km of 2x 240 alu cables laid
• 12 days of project work
